Automatic checks

echo checks for a new version shortly after launch, and every few hours after that. When it finds one, it lets you know, but it downloads only when you press the button. It never restarts on its own in the middle of running tests, recording, or logging in.

Check yourself / stop automatic checks

Use the app name menu (leftmost).

• Check for Updates… — checks right away.
• Check for Updates Automatically — uncheck it to stop automatic checks.

When you can't update from within the app

In the following cases, echo points you to the download page when a new version is available. Reinstall the new version from Download. Your tests and settings are kept.

• The Windows portable version
• Unsigned macOS builds
